moaners stinking the place out again
I don't post a lot but look in a few times a day and when not at an away game I follow the match thread and quite frankly this site has gone beyond boring how people constantly dig Sam out.

You know what, you lot stink the place out with your constant moaning of Sam & Nolan?

Who knows why some players were left out today, we all know Sam like his statistics and sport science and maybe because of fitness they were telling him to leave them out. Just think if he played them and they got injured long term, would you all be having a dig at Sam for not listening to the stats.

Did you really think we could beat Chelsea away or even give them a game with their 1/2 billion pound team, blatant cheating and refs that give them everything.
If you did then it shows what a long way we have come under Sam.

Seriously people I love reading this site but it’s getting to the point where you’re driving people away.

5th in the league, 31 points and compared to anything else in the top 10, all done on a fu#king shoestring.

Get a grip.

Well personally I'd like to lose all three but the below 8th prediition was partly due to that fact --yes we are stuck playing them due to that esteemed African "tournament" that they can't seem to find a more suitable time to play. But also because even if we did have our full squad intact - I think he would still persevere with the old way.

So who would Sam 'lose' if he stuck with the team that was so exciting and successful earlier in the season?

Nolan? Carroll? Jarvis?

Shall I go on, or do you know what I'm thinking..?

I predict he'll finish lower than 8th (from the top by the way...) :):)

Re: moaners stinking the place out again
Strange me arguing for SA but managers have to be consistent in selection of players or risk losing the squad. Carroll has been scoring and playing well so we should expect him to be selected.

Sakho was injured and had an indifferent game against Leicester was it? Valencia has had indifferent games too and both are working their way back into the side which is as it should be.

Frankly I'm not at all surprised we started with Carroll and Sakho against WBA. It's a shame that those with hindsight and an anti-Sam agenda have the field today but football has a habit of turning about face...

Don't get me wrong. I want SA gone but not for picking Carroll and Sakho together. He won't be fired. He might not have his contract renewed but he would have to finish lower than 8th to even tempt Sullivan to take that chance so get used to it....

*3-6 games ago* -whatever - when Carroll came back and we saw Nolan in the line up.
Carroll did have a couple good games but since ? and against better opposition - it does not work..

Re: moaners stinking the place out again
The other thing is people do tend to "generalise" as if they are summing up the season as a whole here in early January. Many are quite content I feel to just sit back and say "I'm very satisified with the season" But surely that means satisfied with what was - up to that point when it all changed.

But the whole thread /debate is about the last few games. The moaners may be well justified since he has gone back to type and as we all know his tendencies in this regard = don't work. The alarming trend to deviate from what worked and go back to favourites - and a different set up entirely.

Again, it's going to be interesting becase if he blindly perseveres with this and we slip further down - it's really is going to cost him his job this time.

11.35 Northern Sold -- good post. Valencia Sakho definitely more by default we know this now. All the people saying how he's changed it up - it was just by chance - he was playing them as he had no other option. It was'nt that he'd seen the light/listened to Lord Sheringham or whatever else - he just got lucky. Then he hasn't got the scope to know why that worked - just stubbornly going forward with the typical Allardyce blinkers on. And he probably still won't change it back next game.

Re: moaners stinking the place out again
Nice to see the same weary old posters taking stuff out of context and adding to it as they see fit to match their agenda...

The players (as somebody has already mentioned) really looked like they were enjoying themselves up until recently. Last few weeks they look like that has been knocked out of them and they are back to just doing their jobs.

Looks like Mauro's comments may have blown the lid off something that's been festering for a while.

Alex is right... even if we were 10 points clear and thrashing allcomers, there is a massive number of fans who do not want Allardyce here (plus another massive number who do not want him but are on the fence as they fear the board's ability to replace him properly).

Then there is 'the rest' - those who will settle for any old shit as long as we don't get relegated.

Plus some who are in blissful ignorance and don't care either way.

Re: moaners stinking the place out again
He never played him then?? Fucking hell who is that immobile lump of lard that is an imposter for him then?? Pretty sure he's been involved all along.... WBA apart that is...

Simple question Jim.... would you go back to the strike force we had great fun and results with in Sept/Oct or go the Carroll/Nolan route we have over the past two months?? Since Carroll has been fit he's started every game since his sub app' v Villa back in mid Nov... Nolan has started in 6 of them... 2 subs... and dropped last week v WBA... so I'd say the manager was reverting to type big time...

Sold

But you suggested he simply started playing Nolan again after injury

But he didn't

The mid-season meltdown is a bit of a tradition on WHO these days. We've had one every season for the last five or so years. Remember when Reading passed us in the Championship? And when we dropped a couple of places to 11th or something our first season back?

The last time we had a genuinely positive season was Zola's first season.

Re: moaners stinking the place out again

Just to clarify, Allardyce played Nolan as we were doing too well and was worried for his job in the event of a top 4/6 finish. The intention was to ensure that we finish in a more Allardyce position, thus protecting his job. The Allardyce paradox as you coined it.

Now Nolan isn't playing, it's because Allardyce is having his wings clipped and being told by the owners he can't pick him? I'm assuming he will have to find clever new ways to sabotage the team, now that his go-to option in Nolan has been removed. I guess it's only a matter of time before the owners tell Allardyce he is forbidden to pick Carroll as well.

It's a fascinating game of cat and mouse, that's for sure. Only if you are brain dead enough to believe the above of course. Well done on that, it's quite some achievement.

Yup.... I brought this up a couple of months ago ... said the crux would be once Nolan/Carroll was fit what would happen.... I think it's plain to see what has happened.... yup... he's reverted to type... which goes to show the early season Valencia/Sakho fest was more by default than by judgement

Re: moaners stinking the place out again
He lost Sakho to injury after the Villa game [ 0-0 with Sakho and Valencia playing ]. Carroll then came back for the Everton game and Sakho was not then available till the Swansea game where he replaced Valencia for the second half and scored.

Allardyce lost the S&V partnership to injury after the Man City win [ the partnership began with the 2-2 at Hull ]. They were back for the home 0-0 with Villa and they were both injured for the Everton game where Carroll made his return. Carroll then lead the line for the 1-0 against Newcastle with both S&V injured.

To claim that BFS not injury broke up the S&V partnership is inaccurate.

comma

So the question is why not bring that successful partnership back ?

He's even fucking about Downing to accommodate Carroll and secondly Nolan

Re: moaners stinking the place out again
So some think Sam has made the decision all by himself to drop his favoured son...

I don't buy that.

Sulli saw the Allardyce 'trash & burn' tricks when he was ousted from Blackburn and Newcastle.

As far as is possible without too much public embarrassment, Sam is having his wings clipped and his arse micro managed.

I do like the fact that we deride Newcastle for their fickle supporters.

BFS is having a good season. Would be stupid to out him now."

Sounds like the opposite of fickle to me. Fickle would be everyone suddenly thinking he's great after hating him last year.

Re: moaners stinking the place out again

Did you not watch the game? Sakho came off because he was injured!

I have no idea whether Allardyce originally planned to bring Valencia on for Carroll, however given that he was clearly knackered and was replaced by Cole 10 minutes later, it wouldn't surprise me.

Re: moaners stinking the place out again

Don't let facts like that get in the way of a good witch hunt.

Previously it was the false claim that Allardyce shoehorned Nolan in to the team as soon as he retuned from injury and that he always picks him over other players.

That one appears to have gone a little quiet after the last two games, although I suspect it will come to the fore again the next time he sets foot on the pitch.
